Lind's Long Lost Love

Jeiko's Head Injury

The next morning, Lind awoke to the warm affectionate embrace of her beloved Jeiko. Smiling as she shifted next to his sleeping form, she let out a sigh as Jeiko tightened his grip on her waist and woke gently.

"Good morning Jeiko." Lind softly whispered.

"Good morning Lind." Jeiko replied kissing her hair. "Did you sleep well?"

"I slept very well. For the first time in a very long time." Lind answered.

"Let me guess, about 500 Earth years?" Jeiko tittered out.

"Yeah something like that." Lind answered with a chuckle.

"Well, I hope you sleep well from here on in for a very long time," Jeiko began, "But now it's time to get up, have some breakfast, and train a little before opening up shop."

"Yes." Lind answered with a bit of reluctance as she moved to get up with Jeiko following her.

Jeiko headed to the little kitchenette that was part of the small apartment Ruka left them and opened the fridge.

"Hmmm...not much to eat here." Jeiko frowned. "Mostly purees and some vegetables."

"That's no surprise, Ruka was an old man before he left." Lind answered.

"Yeah, but still, I need to eat." Jeiko answered with a slight groan.

"Yes. Yes you do." Lind nodded. "Oh, I know! Belldandy gave me some leftovers to put in the freezer. Why don't we warm up and eat those and get this place prepped for business?"

"Right." Jeiko nodded taking the plastic box of food from the freezer and sticking it in the microwave. After about five minutes, he took it out to where it was nice and hot and they had a nice quiet breakfast.

After they were done, Lind went to the store to inspect the wares of the store. It was mostly swords, canes, ninja weaponry, air guns, knives, novelties, and designer blades. Not a whole lot of weapons she was used to like axes and heavy chains, but it was still pretty cool.

"Jeiko, would you be so kind as to get a pair of sai and tonfa from that top shelf?" Lind asked gesturing to a ladder.

"Sure, hold on, I'll get it." Jeiko replied as he took hold of the ladder and started to climb.

Lind watched as Jeiko struggled from the middle of the ladder to reach, but he still wasn't high enough. Despite his great warrior prowess, Jeiko wasn't very tall, so even with that ladder he couldn't get high enough so he had to climb up the ladder a bit higher.

Slowly and carefully climbing up, Jeiko made hus way up when all of a sudden the rung he had stepped on gave in under his foot and broke causing Jeiko to lose his footing and fall off the ladder!

"AHHHHH!!! UGH!!!" Jeiko cried and groaned as he fell off and banged his head hard on the hard wooden counter.

"JEIKO!!!" Lind cried rushing to his side and propping his head in her lap. He was unconscious and Lind looked at the blow to his head and let out a worried sigh as a thought occurred to her.

"Uh-oh! I'd better call Belldandy before he wakes up." Lind spoke to herself heading for the phone and dialed up the number knowing the phone number from when she called to retrieve the data from when Keiichi's wish data was lost in Yggdrasil. Listening to the dial tone, Lind waited until she heard the phone click.

"Hello? Belldandy speaking." The voice of the first-class goddess spoke.

"Belldandy, it's me Lind! Quick! You have to get to the weapon's shop right away!" Lind cried out.

"Why? Did something happen?" Belldandy asked.

"Yes." Lind replied. "There was an accident involving a ladder and well, remember when we used to go the Earth when Jeiko was young and when he'd take a massive blow to the head-" Lind spoke.

"Oh, no!" Belldandy spoke catching on to whatever Lind was implying and grabbing her broomstick. "Don't worry Lind! We'll be right there in a few minutes!" With that, the phone clicked and Lind hung up and tended to Jeiko again.

At the temple, Urd had just woken up hearing Belldandy's cry.

"What's all the commotion?" She grumbled annoyingly. "Do you have any idea how early in the morning it is Belldandy?"

"Urd! We have to get to Lind and Jeiko's place right now!" Belldandy cried. "Jeiko fell off a ladder and injured his head."

"What?" Urd gasped. "Is he dead?"

"No, but you remember what happens when he takes a massive blow to the head, right?" Belldandy asked.

"How could I forget? It's so cute the way he behaves." Urd chuckled. "We'd better get going-"

"Going where?" The combined voices of Skuld and Keiichi broke in.

"Oh, Keiichi!" Belldandy cried. "Thank goodness you're awake! Now we can drive over to Jeiko and Lind's place instead of flying around! We need to go now!"

"Uh, okay." Keiichi spoke as he grabbed his helmet. "I'll get my bike."

"No, we need to take the car you built recently." Belldandy protested. "We need room to bring Jeiko here."

"Oh, okay." Keiichi spoke his confusion growing as he pulled out his keys.

After awhile, the group had gathered in the car and made their way into town following the directions Jeiko gave them to the weapons shop where he and Lind lived together. After about ten minutes, they had arrived and entered to see a panicked Lind craddling Jeiko's handsome head.

"Lind, get back now." Belldandy spoke as she knelt beside Jeiko and activated her magic to revive him.

Backing away, Lind turned to Keiichi and Skuld.

"Brace yourselves for what's about to happen you two." She spoke.

"Huh?" Keiichi and Skuld spoke in unison.

Just then, Belldandy opened her eyes suddenly hearing Jeiko groan and struggle to open his eyes.

"Jeiko? Are you alright?" She spoke worriedly.

Groaning for a second more, Jeiko looked in confusion as the sphere of magic dissipated and Jeiko could see Belldandy's visage. Blinking his eyes for a moment, Jeiko then smiled and jumped up wrapping his arms around Belldandy's neck and gave her several kisses on the cheek!

"WHAT THE?" Keiichi and Skuld both cried in unison again. Belldandy smiled and began rubbing Jeiko's back comfortingly and Jeiko began nuzzling her shoulder apparently unharmed after what had happened.

"Wh-wh-wha?" Keiichi stuttered in confusion.

"HEY!" Skuld cried angrily after recovering from her shock. "HEY YOU PERVERT!!! GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF MY BIG SIS-"

"Skuld please!" Belldandy protested. "Look I know this may seem shocking to both you and Keiichi, but trust me there's a very good reason for his behavior!"

"She's right you two." Urd spoke in. "Believe me, all will be explained soon, but for now we need to take Jeiko back to the temple."

"Right." Belldandy nodded activating another spell that lulled Jeiko off to sleep as she began to gently rub his back as she embraced him.

"Urd, Lind, help me get Jeiko to the car." Belldandy spoke after Jeiko had fallen asleep again.

"Right." Lind nodded grabbing Jeiko's shoulders as Urd grabbed his legs lifting both of them to the car.

"Keiichi, I need you to drive Jeiko, Lind, and Urd back to the temple." Belldandy explained. "Once you get there, Skuld and I will be there via our abilities to travel through liquids and mirrors.

"A-a-alright..." Keiichi spoke with more stuttering. "B-but about what just happened-"

"I'll explain everything when we get Jeiko inside the temple." Belldandy assured Keiichi. "For now, we focus on Jeiko's welfare."

Agreeing to this, Keiichi, Lind, and Urd entered the car and drove to the temple they lived at. Sure enough, when they got there, Belldandy and Skuld were already there waiting for them. Helping Urd and Lind get Jeiko inside, the group went to the dining area to hear the explanation for what happened.

"Alright, I want to hear it!" Skuld angrily demanded. "Why did Jeiko just wake up, look at MY big sister, and hug and kiss her like that?! Where does he get the nerve to violate Belldandy that way? Why I ought to install a time bomb in that new arm of his and blow him to kingdom-"

"SKULD!!!" Belldandy roared. "That is ENOUGH!"

Shuddering at Belldandy's sudden anger, Skuld closed her mouth and kept quiet.

Taking a deep breath and composing herself, Belldandy let out a sigh and said, "I'm sorry. Perhaps I should explain why Jeiko was so affectionate on me just now and why I allowed it."

"I think that's a good idea." Keiichi demanded. "I do home there's a good reason for it."

"There is." Belldandy assured him. "You see, back when Jeiko lived in the Feudal Era, he was sent on many dangerous missions. He sustained quite a few injuries including blows to the head."

"I can imagine so." Keiichi nodded. "That would likely include head injuries, am I right?"

"Yes." Lind nodded. "Jeiko had many big blow to the head in his life, just like now. And the thing about Jeiko is, he has slight amnesia."

"Amnesia?" Keiichi asked. "You mean he loses his memory."

"Not entirely." Belldandy explained. "You see, when Jeiko's amnesia kicks in, his mind reverts to a younger age. Even though he has the body of a man, in his head he's pretty much a small toddler dependent on his family and loved ones."

"I see." Keiichi nodded thoughtfully. "So he's basically become a toddler in the head."

"Yes." Belldandy nodded.

"That's all interesting and all, but that still doesn't explain why Jeiko kissed you like that!" Skuld cried out. "Why did he do all that?"

"I have to agree with Skuld on this Belldandy." Keiichi explained. "What does this have to do with Jeiko getting all affectionate on you."

"I can explain that." Lind spoke in. "You see, when I discovered Jeiko and buried his mother and sister, I used my magic to capture their images."

Turning to Belldandy, Lind asked her, "Belldandy, will you please stand up as I show a picture next to your head?"

"Of course." Belldandy nodded as she rose.

Moving beside Belldandy, Lind conjured up a magic spell making a sphere of magic appear beside Belldandy's head. A sphere whose image began to take the shape of a dead woman's face.

"This image is a picture of Jeiko's mother so long ago." Lind explained as it took on a full form. "It speaks for itself."

"WHAT?!!" Keiichi cried. "THAT'S Jeiko's mother?!!!"

"It can't be!" Skuld protested in disbelief. "The hair is slightly darker and shorter, her eyes are brown, and she has a slightly darker complexion but other that that..."

"She's a spitting image!" Keiichi finished. "Hey wait, Jeiko's mind reverts to a toddler age when he takes a blow to the head, and..."

Nodding proudly as Keiichi was getting what was going on, Belldandy smiled.

"So THAT'S why Jeiko kissed and hugged Belldadny like that, and why she allowed it! Now I get it! It makes perfect sense!"

"What?" Skuld demanded. "What makes sense? I don't get it!"

"Don't you see Skuld?" Keiichi asked, "Despite the differences in hair color, length, eye color, and skin complexion, Belldandy and Jeiko's mother look perfectly alike! So now that Jeiko's mind has reversed to a toddler age...."

Scanning around in her mind for a few seconds, Skuld let out a gasp and shouted, "WHAT?!!! IT...IT CAN'T BE!!! JEIKO IN THIS CONDITION THINKS THAT BELLDANDY IS...IS...IS HIS MOTHER?!!!"
